Product Description

The stock turbo adapter on the Ford F-150 / Raptor Ecoboost motors is a known restriction in the exhaust flow. Our new design improves on the OEM piece by starting with a fresh stainless steel casting. The design has an increased cross section with smooth taper that is matched to the oval-shaped turbo side opening. This makes for seamless transition as air flows from the turbo and into the downpipe. Total volume of the flow section is increased from 9.8 to 10.1in3. The minimum internal cross sectional area is increased from 3.4 to 4.2in2, a 23% increase.

This design was chosen with the aid of CAD Flow Simulation, with the goal being to maximize flow while still maintaining enough material to handle the heat and pressure of the exhaust gasses. Simulation results show that the increased flow area reduces turbo side pressure 55.8% from stock while increasing (and smoothing) velocity to 101.1% of stock. Faster and easier flow means that the motor can apply more power to the wheels instead of forcing air through the exhaust. The increased flow is much more noticeable when more air is traveling through the exhaust, which will increase top end power as well as lower spool time.

Dyno testing showed a +14HP and +1ft-lbs peak gain, with torque peaking 212RPMs earlier than stock! Max gain (biggest difference at RPM and most noticeable as the change in actual driving) is +30HP at 5300RPMs and +23ft-lbs at 5600 RPMs. The curves show improvement with torque coming on slightly earlier, and the biggest increase is at the higher RPMs. There was also an increase in peak boost pressure, going from 20.8 to 21.77psi. The boost has a steeper curve and builds quicker, hitting peak at 3273 RPMs vs 3379 when stock. The ECU is limiting boost based on the timing of the drops, showing potential for more gains with further tuning.
